On Wednesday, January 9th, WHS senior Megan Albamonti signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Delaware to throw javelin.

Throughout her four years at WHS, Megan has participated in softball, basketball, volleyball, and track and field, performing at a very high level in all four activities. Her record javelin throw was what garnered attention from Division 1 schools like Delaware.

Megan said it “felt amazing” to be accepted into a Division 1 school and doesn’t anticipate any challenges making the move to another state.

Along with throwing the javelin, Megan said she might also throw discus.

She plans on majoring in Biology when she gets there.

One of her friends, senior Olivia Charadio said “I’m really proud of my friend! She’s worked really hard for this.”

Another senior, Winnie Haggerty, echoed these sentiments saying, “I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this than Megan.”

Megan was joined at the ceremony by various family members, including her father who is a teacher at WHS.
