It’s glitz vs grit; it’s drought vs dynasty; it’s Clayton Kershaw vs Chris Sale. It’s Dodgers vs Red Sox. Two of the league’s premier franchises will face off in the 2018 installation of the Fall Classic. Major League Baseball should make a lot of money on this series, as it will take place in two of the largest sports markets in the country. The cities of Los Angeles and Boston already have a rivalry, based on the great Lakers-Celtics rivalry of the 1980s.

Game 1 of the Series is set to be a pitching matchup for the ages, as Clayton Kershaw, who has recently found his playoff groove, will face Red Sox ace Chris Sale, who has been dominant as ever this year.

However, if Mookie Betts, Manny Machado, and the rest of the sluggers in the Series have anything to say about it, this will be a hitters’ series. JD Martinez, Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., Andrew Benintendi, and the rest of the Boston offense led the Sox to 108 wins, while Machado, Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner, and Yasiel Puig carried the Dodgers to their 7th straight NL West Championship.

Prediction: After coming one game shy in 2017, the Dodgers are hungry for their first Championship in 30 years. However, their path to the pennant was not as clear as it was last year. The Dodgers had to play a tiebreaker game against Colorado, then they edged out Atlanta in the NLDS, followed by a grueling 7 game NLCS in which they set the record for most strikeouts in a playoff series. The Red Sox faced much tougher competition in the Yankees and Astros, who both won 100+ games, but they only lost 2 games in the playoffs. The seemingly unstoppable Red Sox have been lead by clutch hitting and successful strategies. The loaded Dodgers will make this a close and very exciting series, but the Red Sox will win because of their depth. Red Sox in 6
