On Friday night from 6pm to 8pm, student council hosted the annual lip sync battle. This event featured students and teachers bringing their best effort forward mouthing the words to popular and classic songs, in order entertain the audience and win over the judges votes.

Throughout the three rounds, students from the senior class performed against a variety of staff members in front of peers and relatives. Contestants brought incredible costumes, stage props and background entertainment to the platform and amazed the audience with their talent.

Highlights included Mr. Grimes making an appearance on stage almost unrecognizable, covered in face paint and wearing a wig. Mrs. Boulier brought a real live pony onto the stage to add an unforgettable effect to her performance. Mrs. Asselin battled a very simplistic song in round one with various props. However, the audience went wild when she surprised the judges in round 2 with her impressive rapping skills to show up her opponent.

Mrs. Fusaro reminisced the successes achieved from WHS students this year regarding athletics and academics, while lip syncing Congratulations by Post Malone. Mr. Hathaway, Ms. McGill, and Mrs. Tillinghast delivered phenomenal acts during round one as well, each displaying unique performances that sparked attention from everyone present during the event.

Seniors who participated included, Liz Letizio, Steven Miner, Latham Woodman, Eddie Fernandez, Dee Tucker, Quinn Urbonas, and Kayla Kennedy. These students astonished the Westerly community on Friday night with their entertaining and heartfelt song choices and performances.

Each one of these individuals had a great time on stage displaying to the judges that they have what it takes to be awarded the champion of the night.

Student council provided lighting, music, a concession stand, decorations, and an overall fun night. It was five dollars to attend so there was a good   turnout, and all proceeds went to student council. Seniors Quinn Urbonas and Kayla Kennedy competed for the victory title and impressed the judges with their enthusiasm and energy. Both contestants were unaware of the song they would be lip syncing in the final round, which made the stakes high. The night concluded with the winners declared, both Urbonas and Kennedy who earned loud applause, tying the night together.
