Gray is going to become a familiar color at Augeri Field. The Bulldogs have several uniform options this year, and they chose to wear gray jerseys for the first time as they faced their biggest division rival last Friday in a highly anticipated game.

The Chariho Chargers came into to Augeri Field along with transfer Jalen Valentin, who returned to Westerly for the first time since leaving. This fueled a rivalry that has been heating up in the past few years.

The Bulldogs got off to a quick start, definitely faster than in the opener, to take an early lead thanks to Junior Tristan Turano’s touchdown. The Chargers came back and a Valentin touchdown tied the game. Westerly attacked at the end of the Second Quarter, but it ended at the one yard line when time ran out.

The Bulldogs didn’t give up, and continued fighting. They came very close, and even thought that they had a touchdown, but a penalty denied them. The Chargers then made a late run. Despite being stopped at the 37 yard line, the Chargers scored on a field goal to make the score 10-7.

Westerly showed great resolve over the course of the game. Even with under a minute left, they made a great run towards the end zone. Sadly, it ended with two pass deflections, and a Fourth Down.

This loss made the Bulldogs hungrier to win. They went on to earn their first win of the season in Providence against Mount Pleasant.
