Although Westerly’s defeat against Shea High School which eliminated the boys varsity basketball team from playoffs was upsetting, the players ended their season with many great victories.

Westerly lost their final basketball game this season in the Division II semifinal round with a score of 79-58 against Shea High. Despite their loss, the boys and coaches were ecstatic to get the opportunity to make it to playoffs. The team was glad they got the experience to go further in their basketball careers.

During this playoff season, the varsity team competed against Tolman, Middletown and Shea high schools. The team came together throughout the basketball season and playoff games, putting their best effort forward to face different teams from all over Rhode Island.

Many scores were so close the final results came down to the last few seconds of the games which added extreme amounts of pressure to the players. Specifically, during a playoff game at Middletown High School, Westerly defeated the team in the final seconds with an ending score of 53-50.

The Bulldogs also received the opportunity this season to play against Chariho High School at the Dunkin Donuts Center arena. This was a very good experience for all the players. Westerly went home that night with a victory score of 64-55.

Overall, the varsity boys basketball team was very successful this season and played extremely well as a whole; proudly representing their Bulldogs.
