Last Thursday, seven of our very own high school students put on the show of their lives. The glorious Joe Sanford, Chris Shaffer, Nicholas Pagliusi, Reese Harold, Matt Kapfer, Alex Toscano and Lucas Hiltz all compete in the Mr. WHS competition.

The show started off with best swimsuit category. Each competitor walked, skipped, swam and even sang their way through the stage showing the audience what they really got.

One of The Barker’s very own editors, Reese Harold, during the Swimsuit contest.

Next up was the talent portion of the show. Some acts ranging from 5 minutes to 15 but nevertheless all hilarious. First up was Reese Harold with the astonishing act of making a breakfast smoothie.

Reese proceeded to mix a combination of multiple foods, blending it all together on stage and then drank it while on stage. Spewing in comedic slurs every chance given.

Following Harold was Nicholas Pagliusi with a very informative Powerpoint on tax audit. Not only was it hysterical, it was very confusing as well. Regardless, the crowd loved it!

After Pagliusi performed, Joe Sanford entered the stage alongside Jessica Laing and Joshua Gougon for some extra help. Stanford had to take place of Laing and Gougon’s arms and complete two tasks.

First was to blindly create a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and then to apply a full face of make up.

Fellow contestant Chris Shaffer brought up a special guest during his performance. Schaffer brought up girlfriend, Quinn Chappelle, to perform what he calls “witchCraft”. This comedic bit was priceless and  truly entertaining to watch.

Matt Kapfer was up next and brought more of a romantic talent to the table. Alongside him, his girlfriend Kelly Gentile, performed a dance from the very popular movie Dirty Dancing. The couple definitely had the whole audience engaged in this heartwarming performance.

Did someone say hot dog? Alex Toscano’s special talent was consuming 7 whole hot dogs in one sitting. Toscano was able to beat his own record while sporting a hot dog costume. Truly inspiring.

Last up was Lucas Hiltz who definitely impressed the crowd with some classic card magic. Using some basic food items, Hiltz had everyone laughing while still baffled at his magician skills.

After all of the talents were presented, the hosts asked all the contestants simple questions. All questions, related to their acts or not, had the audience laughing until the very end. Best swimsuit award went to Chris Shaffer, the best talent went to Reese Harold, and overall winner of Mr. WHS was Matt Kapfer.
